Cranberry Sauce with Fresh Orange

12-ounce bag of fresh cranberries
¼ cup orange juice (I recommend freshly squeezed!)
¾ cup water
Zest of 1 orange
Approx ½ cup sugar (I tend to use a little less. Based on your own sweetness preference. See sugar tip at bottom.)


In a medium saucepan, combine water, orange juice, orange zest, and sugar over medium heat. Cook until the sugar has dissolved, stirring occasionally.
Stir in cranberries and bring to a boil. Reduce to low heat and let simmer until sauce begins to thicken; about 12-15 minutes.
Cool before serving. Top with additional orange zest as desired.

*Makes about 4 cups
*Sugar tip: I often start with about ¼ cup sugar. After the cranberries are added, I add sugar 1 tablespoon at a time until my desired sweetness is achieved.
